“That was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was entirely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. Should you call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved rapidly.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an NFL owner has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Recent cases include:
- Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at fans in January 2024.
